CN SALUTES PORTLAND AIR NATIONAL GUARD

My husband Glen and I have had the pleasure of volunteering with the USO since we moved to Oregon this past year. It has been a privilege to meet the men and women who serve and their families. This past week the Portland National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing honored all the volunteers in our area with a tour of their base.

The aircraft and crews at the Portland national Base fly numerous alert missions in response to immediate orders from Northern America Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), The Continental Air Defense Region (CONAR), and the Western Air Defense Sector (WADS). As part of the Aerospace Control Alert Mission, Oregon F-15 pilots not only fly combat air patrols over vital parts of the Pacific Northwest they also respond as-needed to the presence of unidentified aircraft in the region.

We toured the base seeing first hand how at a moments notice they are ready and capable of defending our country or aiding in any unforseen disaster that may come our way, not just in Portland but to wherever they may be called.

THANK YOU 142nd FOR YOUR SERVICE AND PROTECTING OUR BORDERS!
